Matt Forbes and his Vintage Pop Orchestra

Experience the bold and refreshing sound of MATT FORBES, hailed as one of the most vital voices in ‘vintage pop’ in over a decade. This Canadian baritone, standing out in a world of pop tenors, captivates audiences with his soulful reinterpretations of both classic and contemporary pop songs. Whether he's swinging through the Great American Songbook or reimagining modern hits, Matt Forbes has a unique talent for making each song feel like a first-time experience.

Since his debut album, 'Coulda Woulda Shoulda', released in October 2015, followed by 'Solitary Man' in 2017, and over a dozen singles from 2019 to 2023, Matt has received widespread critical acclaim. His national television appearances include E! News, CTV's eTalk, and The Marilyn Denis Show. Major airplay across the US (SiriusXM), Canada, and Europe (BBC Radio 2, Crooner Radio France) has cemented his status, with both albums reaching #1 on Amazon’s Top 10 Chart for Hot New Releases in Vocal Jazz.

Praised by GRAMMY® winner Steve Tyrell as “an important new messenger for the Great American Songbook”, Matt boasts over 7 million streams on Spotify, 8 million YouTube views, and 230,000 Instagram followers. His renditions of 'Gloomy Sunday' and Gorillaz’s 'On Melancholy Hill' have over 1,000,000 streams, and his latest singles are featured on Spotify’s ‘Vocal Jazz’ and ‘Big Band’ playlists.

As the “voice” of SiriusXM’s newest channel, “The Chairman’s Lounge,” Matt brings a cool mix of Sinatra hits and swinging tunes from legends like Dean Martin and Peggy Lee, alongside his own music.

In 2018, Matt worked with GRAMMY award-winning producers Buddy Cannon and Matt Rollings on Willie Nelson’s Sinatra tribute album, ‘My Way’, providing all of Nelson’s guide vocals. The album won the GRAMMY for Best Traditional Pop Album in 2019, and Matt reprised this role for Nelson’s GRAMMY-nominated follow-up, “That’s Life,” released in February 2021.

A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and trained at The Second City and The Groundlings, Matt has headlined top jazz venues in the US and Canada. These include Herb Alpert’s Vibrato and Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, and Toronto’s Koerner Hall, where he headlined the Royal Conservatory of Music’s ‘Sinatra @ 100’ celebration.

Currently, Matt enjoys a regular residency at Los Angeles’ iconic Dresden Room (every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month) and was recently spotlighted by the Los Angeles Times as an ‘essential’ live jazz pick. Previously, he made over 1100 guest appearances with the legendary jazz duo ‘Marty & Elayne’ and has fronted the Influence Jazz Orchestra, opening for Seth MacFarlane.

Matt’s albums ‘Solitary Man’, ‘Coulda Woulda Shoulda', and 'The Twelve Minutes of Christmas' have become staples on jazz and adult standards stations across North America and internationally on CBC Radio, BBC Radio 2, and Crooner Radio (France). His music has also been featured as in-flight entertainment on major airlines including Air Canada, British Airways, Lufthansa, United Airlines, and Delta.

Currently promoting his new singles co-produced with 5x GRAMMY award-winning producers Nicholai Baxter and Justin Moshkevich, Matt continues to make waves. He has guest DJ'd on SiriusXM’s “Siriusly Sinatra” and will soon be featured in an ‘In Conversation With’ special with Charles Pignone (SVP, Frank Sinatra Enterprises) debuting on SiriusXM in May 2024.
